BABSON PARK, Mass. – Seven different players scored multiple goals for Babson as the 16th-ranked Beavers defeated visiting Eastern Connecticut State 20-4 in the opening game of the 2011 women’s lacrosse season.

Senior captain Alyssa Hood led all players with seven points for Babson, totaling three goals and four assists. Junior Trisha Babson added two goals, three assists and a team-high six draw controls, while junior newcomer Colleen Mulligan scored a game-high four goals in her Babson debut.

First-year Morgan Lockwood also tallied three goals and one assist for four points, while sophomore Jamie Spang and junior Erin Daley contributed two goals apiece.

Senior captain Sarah Macary played the first half in net and made five saves to earn the win, and rookie Julie Baharestani stopped one shot in the final 30 minutes.

ECSU was led by sophomore Daniela Marchitto and first-year Erin Conn, who each scored two goals in defeat. Junior Ashley Prizio and sophomore Taylor Buchanan recorded one assist apiece for the Warriors, while sophomore goalie Nancy Ibrahim made 15 saves in net.

Marchitto scored the first goal of the game at 26:48 of the first to give ECSU a brief 1-0 lead, but Babson responded with 12 consecutive goals to end the first half and then added three more to start the second as the hosts build a commanding 15-1 advantage.

Lockwood scored all three of her goals in the opening period, while Hood added two goals and four assists. Conn would score twice in a four-minute stretch of the second half for the Warriors.
