GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Top-ranked Adelphi defeated No. 11 New Haven 21-6 on Wednesday in a Northeast-10 Conference contest on Motamed Field.

The Panthers remain unbeaten at 15-0 overall and 11-0 in the NE-10.

Claire Petersen led the offense with 13 points on five goals and eight assists, while Demmianne Cook (5g), Devan Crimi (2g, 3a) and Erica Devito (2g, 3a) each had five points. Elizabeth Fey had four goals.

The defensive effort was led by Kristin Jones and Cook as both players had three caused turnovers, while Jacqueline Williams, Katelynn Ciaci and Tara Gangarossa had two caused turnovers each. Jones also picked up seven ground balls and Cook had six in the win, while both Marissa Mills and Frankie Caridi had four each.

Williams was also Adelphi's strongest player on the draw, winning four, followed by Fey with two wins. Caridi made six stops in goal, collecting her 15th decision of the season.

Adelphi scored the first three goals of the contest, taking a 3-0 lead on a Claire Petersen tally with 22:38 on the clock. New Haven responded with their only goal of the first half at the 21:42 mark to pull within two goals, 3-1. After four scoreless minutes a Fey goal kicked off a 8-0 Adelphi run that closed out the half, giving the Panthers a 11-1 lead at intermission.

The Chargers showed life in the opening minutes of the second frame, scoring the first two goals of the half to pull within 11-3. Adelphi responded with another run, this time scoring seven in a row, including three from Cook, to put the game out of reach at 18-3 with 12:56 remaining. The Panthers and Chargers would play even the rest of the game, 3-3, giving Adelphi the victory.

The Panthers out shot New Haven, 38-21 and collected more ground balls, 38-21. However, the Chargers held a 19-9 edge in draw controls.
