BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – No. 8 C.W. Post used a powered offense to hold off No. 13 Merrimack, 16-8. Jackie Sileo continued her outstanding freshman year, dishing out six assists on the day and scoring two goals of her own.

C.W. Post took the early lead over the Warriors from Merrimack, as Abigail Ross netted her 29th goal of the season off a pass from Kathleen Rotan. A little less than five minutes later, the Warriors evened the score with a free position goal on the part of Jenn Pino.

The Pioneers quickly took over the scoring for a portion of the first half, scoring four straight goals to make the score 4-1 in favor of the home team. Ross scored the middle of those goals, with Nan Mayott scoring the beginning of the four, Lauren Spagnoletta putting in her 52nd goal of the season, and Sileoputting in the fourth. Sileo then came back to score the last goal of the first half, but that was not before Mary Pasquantonio put in two of her own for the Warriors, making the score 6-3 at the half.

C.W. Post then took that lead into the second half and increased it further, outscoring the Warriors 10-5. Spanoletta got the scoring started less than two minutes in, and then added two more later on to bring her season total to 55 goals. Michelle Fucich added two goals of her own, with Sileo assisting on four goals during the half.

Spagnoletta and Ross led the Pioneers with four goals apiece, with Sileo being the main distributor with her six assists. Those six assists now bring Sileo to 60 assists on the season, a freshman school record.
