SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior Katie Rowan scored 11 points, including five goals and six assists, leading the 7th-seeded Orange past Boston University, 20-10, in the first round of the 2009 NCAA Women's Lacrosse Tournament. Syracuse will travel to play 2nd-seeded Maryland, which beat Colgate, 20-4. Rowan, the 2009 BIG EAST co-Attack Player of the Year, now has 38 points in NCAA Tournament play in her Syracuse career, which is the highest total for any SU player in program history.

The victory improves SU's NCAA Tournament record to 4-8 in eight years. Last year Syracuse dadvanced to the national semifinals for the first time in school history.

Syracuse has a 7-1 record in games played in the Carrier Dome this season. During the last three years, Syracuse has a record of 25-4 in the Loud House.
