BROOKHAVEN, N.Y. -- Marissa Daly scored 6 goals as St. Anselm upset No. 8 Dowling 13-11 on Saturday afternoon. St. Anselm improves to 1-1 while Dowling falls to 0-1.

The Hawks offense came out strong score five unanswered goals in a ten minute window to take a five goal lead. After trading goals, they would extend their lead to six when Britinia Hickman scored on a free position opportunity. The Golden Lions would close the half on a three goal run of their own, and cut into the Hawks lead 10-7 going into the break.

A goal by Dowling's Brooke Witkowski brought Dowling to within one but it was the closest Dowling would get. Daly would score two straight and net all three of St. Anselm's tallies in the half to preserve the victory.

Leading the way for Dowling was Senior Brooke Witkowski who finished with two goals and three assists. Shannon Asquino (3), Kelli Difede (2), Samantha Stavish (2), Alicia Fuchs (2) all contributed with scoring multiple goals.

Behind Daly, Britini Hickman had a goal and three assists for the Hawks. Meghan Smith grabbed a game high 13 draw controls and goalie Alee Ramzi made 3 stops in the win.
