SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Senior midfielder Brittany Brigandi scored a season-high seven goals to lead the top-ranked Le Moyne to a 12-4 win against eighth-ranked Bentley on Sunday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.
The Falcons opened the game’s scoring at the 27:07 mark as Taylor Bastien tallied her ninth goal of the season.
After being held scoreless in the first eight minutes and 50 seconds of the game, Brigandi evened the score with an unassisted goal with 21:10 left. She put the Dolphins in front with her 30th goal of the campaign off a free-position shot with 15:45 remaining. With the goal, the 146th of her career, Brigandi moves past Whitney Vecchio ’08 and into third place on the program’s all-time goals scored chart.
Sophomore Kathleen Conese followed with a pair of goals in a span of 39 seconds. The first came off a pass from sophomore midfielder Jennifer Fabian, while the second came with 14:00 left off a feed from junior attacker Brenna Bauer.
Brigandi then added her third and fourth goals of the game in the final 11:18 of the half to give the Dolphins a 6-1 lead at the intermission. She posted an unassisted tally with 11:18 remaining and scored off a feed from freshman attacker Catie McKay with 3:41 left.
Brigandi opened the scoring in the second half with her third consecutive goal at the 29:11 mark after taking a pass from Fabian.
Bastien ended her team’s 30-minute and three-second scoring drought by scoring from the left edge of the crease after taking a pass from Megan Wiggins off a restart.
After neither team scored for almost 10 and one-half minutes, Brigandi tallied her sixth goal of the day at the 16:39 mark.
Following a failed clear attempt by the Falcons, junior defender Molly Maroney picked up the loose ball, raced up field and fed Conese on the right edge of the crease, where she deposited the ball into the back of the net for her 12th goal of the campaign. Brigandi extended Le Moyne’s lead to eight with her 35th goal of the season off a free-position shot with 13:23 to go.
Bastien registered her third goal of the day with 11:26 remaining to pull the Falcons within 10-3.
With 9:42 remaining in the contest, Fabian converted a free-position shot to regain the eight-goal advantage for the Dolphins. Bauer completed Le Moyne’s scoring with 5:51 left off a pass from freshman attacker Sam Yaro.
Bentley’s Carolyn Kynoch finished off the scoring in the game with 1:52 left with an unassisted tally.
Senior goalkeeper Kelly Fucillo made three saves in between the pipes to register her 40th career victory. Ally Dorman made six saves in the loss for the Falcons.
