Andersen, Moran register six points apiece as Dowling muscles past Bentley
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Jackie Andersen, Nicole Moran and Sam Stavish combined for 10 goals as No. 7 Dowling dropped eighth-ranked Bentley 12-9.
Dowling improved its record to 6-1 and Bentley fell to 4-2.
Bentley got the early lead after back-to-back goals to start the game. Andersen scored her first goal on a free-position shot. Kelly Cefalu scored a goal less than a minute later to tie the game.
Stavish scored a minute later to put the Golden Lions ahead 3-2. Bentley answered back with another pair of goals to retake the lead. With 10 minutes left to play, Nicolle Moran found the back of the net to equalize the game. The Falcons regained the lead as another goal was scored with 7:47 left on the clock. At the end of the first half Dowling trailed 5-4.
Andersen scored the first goal in the second half. Bentley kept fighting back as it scored a goal of its own. Dowling came back to tie and took the lead as Stavish scored her second goal of the game. Moran scored the go-ahead goal from an assist by Kelly Di Fede. Bentley tied the game up with a man-up goal. Stavish scored to complete the hat trick and take the lead once more. Cefalu and Andersen scored a minute apart from each other to increase the lead to three. Bentley scored a pair of goals to cut the deficit to 10-9. Moran and Andersen scored the final two goals of the game to secure the win.
Andersen and Moran both finished with six points, while Stavish scored three goals. Bentley outshot Dowling 22-18 and both picked up 18 ground balls. Dowling and Bentley also had 12 draw controls each. Tina Fey recorded the win between the pipes with 10 saves.
