You know Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist have a real rivalry when they extend it to cross country. In fact, due to an increased number of pranks, the series was discontinued in 1951 and not resumed until 1963.

Early this year, South Dakota State traveled to South Dakota for the first time since Oct. 10, 2003. The Coyotes posted a 3-1 win (20-25, 25-14, 25-19, 25-22) in front of the largest volleyball crowd in school history with 1,122 fans.

West Virginia and Pitt have been engaging in the Backyard Brawl since 1895. However, it’s not just contained to the football field or the basketball court. In the most recent soccer battle between these schools separated by just 70 miles, West Virginia defeated Pitt on Oct. 12.
The Holy War between BYU and Utah extended to the volleyball court last month, as BYU won the Utah Invitational, defeating the host school 3-0 back on Sept. 10. “[BYU] was a better team tonight, there’s no question about it,” Utah head coach Beth Launiere said. “They are playing really good volleyball. They’re experienced. They have good size and are playing like a well-oiled machine right now and they were tough to go up against tonight.”
The Arch Rivalry is a little bit different because the teams involved hail from different conferences — Illinois from the Big Ten and Mizzou from the Big 12. The two teams met on the women’s soccer pitch back in August and played to a 1-1 tie.
The Penn-Cornell rivalry dates back to 1893. In the most recent field hockey meeting, Penn won another hard-fought battle 1-0.
