Charleston, S.C. – No. 16 Columbus State had its roughest day of the young season on Saturday shooting a season-low aggregate score of 4507 in a five-team meet hosted by The Citadel.
Defending national champions and top-ranked TCU took the meet posting an aggregate score of 4702. Seventh-ranked Jacksonville State finished in second with an aggregate score of 4644 while The Citadel co-ed (4511) and The Citadel women (4237) finished behind the Cougars.
Freshman J.S. Fielding led the way for the Cougars scoring a total of 1145 points. It was the first time this season that someone other than Abigail Casey had the highest aggregate score for CSU. Fielding had the best score in smallbore for the Cougars shooting a 571 while posting a score of 574 in air rifle.
Casey struggled shooting an aggregate score of 1136. She shot a 559 in smallbore and a season worst score of 577 in air rifle.
Senior Courtney Duncan completed her day with a collected score of 1126. She shot a 553 in smallbore and added 20 points in air rifle scoring a 573.
Juli Yoder competed in both air rifle and smallbore for the Cougars as she added 571 points to CSU’s final team score in air rifle and shot a 552 in smallbore.
