ITHACA, N.Y. — A first-place finish by the varsity four highlighted the season-opening performance by No. 6 Ithaca on Saturday. The Bombers competed against crews from No. 3 William Smith and No. 9Marietta .
The varsity four posted a winning time of 8:37.91, ahead of William Smith’s 8:50.65.
In the freshman/novice eight race, the Bombers entered two boats; the novice eight finished in 7:39.63 and the third varsity eight finished in 7:55.70. William Smith won the race in 7:33.61.
Ithaca’s varsity eight and second varsity eight took third. The Bombers’ varsity eight is ranked sixth with the Herons ranked third and the Pioneers ranked ninth.
The varsity eight order of finish was William Smith (6:52.58), Marietta (7:04.89) and Ithaca (7:23.56). Marietta won the second varsity eight race in 7:21.4 followed by William Smith (7:29.5) and Ithaca (7:33.5).
