HADLEY, Mass. -- Williams placed first in the women's grand final, while the men were runner-up during the ECAC-National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) on Sunday at Lake Quinsigamond.

In the women's grand final, Williams crossed the finish in a time of 6:35.43, just more than two seconds faster than second-place finisher and NESCAC-foe Bates (6:37.88). Trinity (Conn.) was the only other NESCAC institution represented in the grand final, placing fourth with a time of 6:47.99.

The Ephs have now won eight consecutive titles and nine overall. The Bobcats have finished as the runner-up for the past three seasons.

Williams will receive an automatic invitation to the NCAA rowing championships at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis on May 31 through June 2. The Ephs have won the last seven national titles and own eight overall NCAA crowns.
