DENVER – University of Denver skier Leif Kristian Haugen (Lommendalen, Norway) was named to Norway’s Olympics team and will compete in the Vancouver Games next month.

Haugen has won both slalom races and was second in both giant slalom races for the Pioneers this season. Last year, Haugen led Denver to its 20th national title after finishing second in the GS and third in the slalom at the 2009 NCAA Championships, which earned Haugen All-American First Team honors in both events.

“We are thrilled for Leif and wish him the best in Vancouver,” DU alpine head coach Andy LeRoy said.

Haugen is expected to return to the Pioneers team following the Olympic Games.
