IRONWOOD, Mich. - Jesse Smith posted a pair of top-10 finishes to lead the Michigan Tech Nordic ski teams at the Grandview XC Ski Challenge Dec. 11-12. He finished sixth overall in the 10-kilometer freestyle (25:13) and seventh the following day in the 10-kilometer classic race (28:55).

The Huskies had three other men finish in the top-20 of the freestyle race. Matt Dugan finished 14th (25:44), Sondre Sandvik 18th (26:06) and Andrew Keller was 19th (26:10).

The women's squad fared even better with two Huskies finishing in the top-10 of the five-kilometer skate race. Alice Flanders led the team with a sixth place finish (14:38) and Lynn Duijndam was eighth in 14:43.

Tech had three other skiers finish in the top-20. Malin Eriksson was 13th (14:52), Sarah Daniels 14th (14:56) and Christina Mishica 20th (15:17).

Luke Gesior and Andrew Keller were the only two skiers to join Smith in the top-20 of the men's 10-kilometer classic race finishing 12th (29:39) and 18th (30:11).

Eriksson paced the women with an 11th place finish (34:45) in the 10-kilometer classic race.

Other finishes for the women included Sarah Daniels 21st (35:41) and Christina Mishica 24th (36:11).

No team scores were kept.

The ski teams will compete at the United States National Championships Jan. 2-8 in Rumford, Maine.
