2014 Men’s Basketball
Championship
HANCOCK, Vt. — Vermont maintained a hold of first place at the 2013 NCAA Ski Championships after Day 3 of competition. The Catamounts (564) have a 54-point lead ahead of second-place Colorado (510) and third-place Denver (484).
The third day of the NCAA championships featured the men’s and women’s slalom races at the Middlebury Snow Bowl.

In the women’s race, Kristina Riis-Johannessen posted the fastest time of the second run (49.02) to finish as the national runner-up. She earned her second podium appearance at the NCAAs in as many races with a two-run time of 1:38.02.
Kate Ryley finished just outside of the top-five with a sixth-place finish and time of 1:38.91.
Riis-Johannessen was joined on the podium by two Denver skiers as Kristina Haugen earned the alpine sweep, winning the slalom in a time of 1:37.97. Teammate Rianda Carroll placed third (1:38.27).
In the men’s race, all three Catamounts finished in the top 20, led by Jonathan Nordbotten’s fourth-place finish and time of 1:39.83. Travis Dawson added an 11th-place finish and Sean Higgins finished 19th overall.
Joonas Rasanen of New Mexico was the slalom champion with a time of 1:38.96. Rasanen beat out Middlebury’s David Donaldson (1:39.24) and New Hampshire’s Sam Coffey (1:39.74).
The NCAA Ski Championships conclude Saturday with the men’s and women’s Nordic freestyle mass start races at the Rikert Nordic Center.
