CALDWELL, N.J. -- The Caldwell College Athletic Department announced the hiring of Rob Grosso as head men’s soccer coach. Grosso comes to Caldwell after a successful run as the boys’ soccer coach at Millburn (N.J.) High School.

Grosso spent nine years at Millburn compiling an overall record of 114-57-9 while winning three Essex County championships and a Group 3 state title in 2008. That year, Grosso led his team to a 23-2 record en route to winning Skyline Conference, Essex County and North II sectional championships in addition to the Group 3 crown. He was named the conference and sectional Coach of the Year that season. In 2009, Millburn captured its third straight Essex County title, won the section and advanced to the Group 3 final. A highlight of the 2007 season was a victory over perennial power St. Benedict’s, one of the top high school programs in the nation.

“We were fortunate to have a strong group of candidates to consider for the men’s soccer position, and Rob stood out through the whole process,” said Mark A. Corino, Executive Director of Athletics. “His coaching record at the high school level speaks for itself, and we are glad he will be taking the next step to the collegiate level here at Caldwell.”

In addition to coaching at Millburn High School, Grosso has been a health and physical education teacher at Heritage Middle School in Livingston, N.J., since 2002. He also serves as the Director of Coaching for the West Essex Soccer Club, and has coached youth teams for the Millburn Soccer Club since 1998. Grosso is the owner and president of Sticks N’ Kicks, which has provided training for youth soccer and lacrosse players since 2001.

Grosso graduated from Montclair State University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health/Physical Education. He also played soccer at Montclair State, where he led his team in goals as a senior. A native of Roseland, N.J., Grosso currently lives in West Caldwell with his wife Jodi and their two daughters.
