OAKDALE, N.Y -- The No. 3 Dowling College men's soccer team remains undefeated after they defeated the Cougars of Caldwell College on September 28. The 5-0 victory improved the Golden Lions overall record to 6-0-2 and Caldwell dropped to 5-2-1 on the season.

Dowling's first goal of the game came 30 minutes into the game from junior Guy-Roland Kpene (Abidjan, Africa) when he took a shot from about 10 yards out on the left side. Graduate student Morten Jensen (Tananger, Norway) scored the Golden Lions second goal off a penalty kick at the 53 minute mark. Jensen assisted on the third goal when he passed the ball to senior Koku Afeto (Togo, West Africa) who found the back of the net two minutes later. Just under a minute later, the ball deflected off a Caldwell defender and set up sophomore Ahmadoul Gaye (Dakar, Senegal) for Dowling's fourth goal. Kpene scored his second goal of the game from a pass by Jensen with 25 minutes left in the game.

Goalkeeper Nemanja Veljovic (Belgrade, Serbia) saw 65 minutes of action as he made two saves and junior Billy Grady (Centereach, NY) finished the final 25 minutes for the Golden Lions with two saves.

Caldwell's goalkeeper, Mike Turdo, allowed four goals and made three saves in 56 minutes of play and John Plaugic permitted one goal over 33 minutes.
