DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Ohio Northern men's soccer team upset No. 4-ranked and previously unbeaten Hobart (N.Y.) 2-1 to advance to the NCAA Elite 8 Saturday evening on the campus of Loras College.

The Polar Bears are now 20-5-1, while Hobart ends its season at 18-1-3.

Freshman Dustin Connor got the Polar Bears on the board at 51:23 after freshman Christian Huelsman sent the ball into the box on a corner kick. After the goalkeeper made one save, Connor controlled the rebound and scored from about three yards out.

At 66:24 Matuszak headed in the second ONU goal off a pass from the right side by Nate Bascom, scoring what proved to be the game winner.

Hobart made the score 2-1 at 73:20 when Dan Riso took a deflected pass far post and put the ball in the back of an empty net.

ONU and Hobart played to a 0-0 tie in the first half with each team having few good chances to score.

In the 22nd minute Bascom took the ball down the right side and centered to Huelsman whose shot was blocked by the Hobart keeper.

The best chance of the half was by the Statesmen in the 27th minute. After clearing a Northern corner kick, Hobart had a 4-on-1 break against defender Ryan Smith and Collins.

After a centering pass from the left side, the Hobart attacker touched the ball too far and Collins was able to come to the top of the box and dive on the ball.

Ohio Northern will advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals tomorrow night at 7 pm EST to face the winner of No. 21 Loras (Iowa) and Augsburg (Minn.).
