The College at Brockport Men's Soccer team finished its season with a 3-1 loss to Messiah College in the second round of the NCAA Tournament in Grantham, PA Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles (10-6-4) advanced to the second round by virtue of a 5-3 victory in a shootout against Ohio Northern last Thursday. Brockport earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament after winning the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament for the first-time since 1978.

Messiah (20-1-0) jumped out early in the 8th minute on a goal by Danny Thompson to give the Falcons the 1-0 lead. Messiah added one more to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Brockport came out strong in the second half and cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 56th minute. Senior Steve Abgarian (Merrick, NY/Bellmore-JFK) collected a through ball from Brad Lefort (Chittenango, NY/Chittenango) and slotted the ball inside the far post.

The Falcons recorded the final goal in the 86th minute off a corner kick to defeat the Golden Eagles 3-1 and to advance to the Section-round next weekend.

Brockport keeper Joe Marino (Rochester, NY/McQuaid) made seven saves.
