SAN ANTONIO — Five Trinity players scored goals as the fifth-ranked Tigers shutout Millsaps 5-0 in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference game on Sunday afternoon. The reigning conference champion Tigers remained undefeated at 9-0-2, and 4-0-0 SCAC. On Friday, Trinity opened the conference weekend with a 10-3 victory against Rhodes.
Josh Adams started the proceedings Sunday with a goal in the 10th minute, assisted by Cameron Hogsett. Adams leads the Tigers with 12 goals, and has now registered six game-winners.
Brian Hines tallied his tenth goal of the season off a corner kick sent by C.H. Farmer in the 30th minute, as Trinity went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Just 48 seconds into the second half, Andrew Soares fired the ball past the Majors keeper on an assist by David Steuber to push the Trinity lead to 3-0. Roberto Camargo and Nima Naderi then combined for a scoring play in the 73rd minute to extend the Tigers advantage to 4-0. Peter Philpott and Lachlan Fogarty connected for a goal to put the final touches on the game in the 82nd minute and end the scoring at 5-0.
Trinity had 38 total shots in the game, while Millsaps (2-7-1, 0-4-0) was limited to just three. The Tigers recorded 14 shots on target, and did not yield a single one to the Majors.
