WILSON, N.C. -- Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Erskine midfielder Jack Kimber directed a second-half comeback by scoring a goal and assisting on the other as No. 6 seed Erskine stunned No. 3 Barton 2-1 in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Championship at the Barton Soccer Field.

Barton took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute of the first half on a goal by Jonathan Rembecki, his third of the season. Both teams had six shots in the half.

Midway through the second half, Kimber found Brady Johnson at the top of the box who blasted a shot that hit the crossbar and into the goal. For Johnson, it was his first goal of the season.

Ten minutes later, freshmen Andrew Settlemire made a pass to the top of the box to Kimber who promptly slammed the ball into the right-side for the game-winning goal. It was Kimber’s seventh goal of the season.

Erskine held a slight edge in shots 13-11 while Barton had the advantage on corner kicks at 8-3.

Erskine goalkeeper Roberto De La Vina earned six saves on 11 shots.
