RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Thomas More fell 2-1 to Hope on Friday in the first round of the NCAA tournament hosted by Dominican (Ill.) at West Campus Field.

With the loss, the Saints end the season at 16-2-1 and with the win, the Flying Dutchmen improve to 16-4-3 and will play host Dominican (Ill.) in a second-round match on Saturday.

Hope took an early 1-0 lead when Nicholas Heyboer scored off a cross from Tarwo Konbloa at the 24:44 mark. The Saints scored the equalizer at the 37:29 mark when freshman forward Kyle Troutman found the back of the net on a header off a deflection.

Hope scored the eventual game-winning goal at the 86:38 when David Whitaker found the back of the net.

Senior Zack Lawson suffered the loss in goals as he played all 90 minutes and allowed two goals and recorded three saves.

Both teams had 12 shots in the match, including five shots on-goal each, but Hope won the battle of corner kicks 7-6.
