Rockhurst advances to third round
McDonald scores lone goal in first half to lead Hawks to win
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Rockhurst defeated Saginaw Valley 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Friday night.
The lone goal for the Hawks came when Nick McDonald found the back of the net at the 55:39 mark in the second half of the contest. The Cardinals managed only six shots, one of which was on goal, while the Hawks were able to get five of their 22 shots off on goal. Freshman Zach Vasold had two shots for Saginaw Valley, while junior goaltender Jason Wise saved four of the five shots he faced.
Saginaw Valley finishes the season 12-5-3. While, Rockhurst improves to 16-2-2 overall and will advance to play Northern Kentucky on Nov. 13.
