RINDGE, N.H. -- St. Thomas Aquinas advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament with a 4-1 win against NYIT on Thursday. Daniel Davren scored a goal just 10 minutes into action to get the Spartans rolling. Remington Lee added two goals and Sean Reily had one. Andrew Tartara had two saves for St. Thomas Aquinas.

Davren's goal came off an assist from Robert Stevens as he dribbled to the right box and fired a shot to the left corner. The Spartans held onto a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Lee scored his first goal off a cross from Joe Connolly early in the second half. The Spartans added their third goal just five minutes later as Reily chipped in a goal off a missed header attempt by Connolly.

The Bears scored their lone goal at the 64-minute mark as Houpe Harvey scored off a rebounded ball. St. Thomas Aquinas continued to attack adding their fourth goal in the final minute of play as Lee fired a shot into the right corner.

The Spartans outshot the Bears 6 to 5. Joe Caccavalle had 3 saves for NYIT.

St. Thomas Aquinas will now face Franklin Pierce on Saturday. Thursday's win was the first NCAA win in the program's history. St. Thomas Aquinas is now 11-3-4.
