LOWELL, Mass. – Senior forward Mario DiMiceli scored in the seventh minute and then again in 43rd minute to lift the Southern Connecticut State (7-5-1, 5-5-1 NE-10) against No. 7 Massachusetts-Lowell (11-3-1, 10-2 NE-10) 2-1 on Saturday in a Northeast-10 Conference game.

DiMiceli received a cross from freshman Daquan King and beat the goalkeeper just seven minutes into the game to give the Owls a 1-0 lead. The River Hawks answered in the 15th minute when Homer Morais headed one past goalkeeper Stephen Sasso to tie the game at one apiece.

DiMiceli pushed across his second goal of the day and his 12th of the season as he got a pass from junior Doural Scott and finished it in the back of the net.

The Owls held off UMass-Lowell in the second half to give them their seventh win of the season.

Sasso earned his third win in net for the Owls, while recording four saves.
