Golden Eagles find way back to top-five spot in NSCAA Coaches’ Poll
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- On the heels of back-to-back 6-0 conference victories, Charleston (W. Va.) has landed the No. 5 slot in the NSCAA Division II Coaches' Poll, as announced Tuesday.
Regis held onto the top spot, while LIU Post, Simon Fraser and Lynn round out the top five. Davis & Elkins, Tampa, Saginaw Valley State and Post all entered the poll this week, while No. 7 Massachusetts-Lowell, No. 21 Midwestern State, No. 22 Mercyhurst and No. 23 Notre Dame (Ohio) all dropped out of the national rankings.
Charleston rebounded from its first loss of the season, which dropped it to No. 12 in the rankings with blowout wins against Shepherd and Ohio Valley last week. This was enough to make the seven spot jump in the rankings where they have been a mainstay for three consecutive years.
The Golden Eagles' 10-1-3 record has the squad in contention for the top regional spot with two games remaining in the regular season. Charleston will be looking for their forth consecutive WVIAC crown.
