Two matchups are on the agenda for No. 1 Messiah, both of which entail a ranked matchup. The Falcons start off the weekend on Friday with a contest against No. 24 Oneonta State, followed on Saturday by a battle against No. 24 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

The Falcons are coming off of the season-opening weekend in which they clinched two big wins to get the season started off on the right foot.

On Aug. 30, Messiah scored twice in their season-opener, overcoming an early score from Utica to come from behind for a 2-1 win.

With a game under their belt, the Falcons didn't waste time Saturday setting the pace, scoring four goals and shutting out Medaille College 4-0. The Falcons outshot the Mavericks 24 to three and dominated possession throughout the entire game, scoring twice in each half en route to the decision.

Both Oneonta State and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps venture into the weekend undefeated, each getting a W in the season opener this past weekend.

Luther soared into this week's rankings at No. 6 after not being ranked at all during the preseason. The jump was encouraged by a pair of weekend wins by the Norse.

The squad kicked off the 2013 campaign with a 2-0 victory against then-No. 8 Trinity. The win versus the Tigers was the second for the Norse. In 1994 Luther defeated Trinity 2-1. Logan Martell scored the game winner at 18:39 assisted by J W Slauson. Twenty minutes later, Clay Walker scored an insurance goal assisted by James Garcia-Prats. Peter Wright went the distance in front of the nets and turned away seven shots on goal en route to the shut out.

The Norse then improved to 2-0 after posting a 1-0 overtime victory against Southwestern (Texas). Brock Arend scored the game winner 4:21 into overtime unassisted. Peter Wright went the distance in front of the nets and turned away the only shot on goal he faced the entire evening en route to his second shut out in as many days. Luther outshot the Pirates 19-4.
