After rocketing from No. 14 to No. 5 in the lastest coaches' poll, the Riverhawks are set to face another sixth-ranked opponent -- this time No. 6 Colorado School of Mines. Northeastern State will head to Golden, Colo., on Sunday for the matchup.

First thing is first though, and the Riverhawks cannot overlook Regis in a Friday the 13th battle.

Paving the way to its upped ranking, Northeastern State met the liikes of William Jewell and then-No. 6 Rockhurst for a pair of shutouts on the weekend.

The RiverHawks used goals from four different members of the team and a strong defensive performance to secure the first win of the 2013 campaign, 4-0 versus William Jewell on Friday.

To cap the weekend on a high note, Northeastern State then went on to upset No. 6 Rockhurst 1-0 on Sunday, its first victory against a ranked opponent since 2006.

Coming off an impressive 2-0-0 start to the regular season, the Falcons moved up 17 places in the NSCAA rankings to No. 8 on Tuesday. This is the highest NCAA DII ranking that the Falcons have received in history.

The Falcons (2-0-0) moved up from their preseason ranking of No.25, after two strong victories against ranked opponents. The Falcons recorded wins against then-No.4 Mercyhurst and then-No.13 Gannon.

In the first game of the regular season, senior Tom Owens was the lone goal scorer as the Falcons outlasted Mercyhurst 1-0. On Sunday the Falcons used a strong performance from their bench to defeat Gannon 3-0. An early goal from defender Phil Cutler was followed by goals from substitutes Reymar Klochko-Khoo and Kyle Hayes.

Notre Dame (Ohio) has two matchups on deck, beginning with Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday. The Falcons will then meet Charleston on Wednesday.
