OMAHA, Neb. -- No. 2 Creighton fell 1-0 to No. 17 Georgetown at Morrison Stadium Saturday night.

After a scoreless first half, Georgetown posted the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute. The Hoyas’ Arun Basujevic corralled the ball on the left side of the box and sent it into the right side of the net.

With the loss Creighton falls to 4-1-1 in the Big East and 11-2-2 overall.  Georgetown improved to 8-3-4 overall and 3-2-1 in conference play.

The Blue Jays created good offensive chances in both halves but could not convert. Creighton led the Hoyas 9-4 in shots and a physical game yielded six yellow cards with three on each side.

Creighton’s defense kept their opponents off of the scoreboard in the first half for the 15th time this season. The downfall was the first in regulation for the Jays in 2014.

Junior Connor Sparrow played all 90 minutes in net for Creighton and moved to 11-2-2 on the year.

The Jays’ setback coupled with wins by No. 23 Providence and No. 16 Xavier puts Creighton in third place in the BIG EAST heading into the final three weeks of the season.
