Bradley 1, No. 3 Conneticut 0

STORRS, Conn. -- No. 3 Connecticut suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday night with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Bradley at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium. With the loss, the Huskies fall to 2-1-1 while the Braves improve to 3-2-0.

The Connecticut defense allowed its first goal of the season 2:30 into the contest when Zach Kovacevic successfully converted a penalty kick, despite goalkeeper Andre Blake’s effort to knock the ball away. The goal snapped Blake’s 293 minute scoreless streak.

Connecticut had six corner opportunities in the second half, but couldn’t capitalize.

With just eight minutes remaining, Edir DaGraca got a good look from 20 yards out, sending a curling shot towards the top right of the net, but it was saved. Blake played all 90 minutes, making one save. He falls to 2-1-1 on the young season. The Huskies took 20 total shots, five of which were saved by Billings. The senior improves to 3-2-0 this year.

No. 6 Saint Louis 1, Denver 0

ST. LOUIS -- Saint Louis junior forward Robert Kristo's 18th minute goal held up for the No. 6 Billikens, as they defeated Denver 1-0 Saturday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

It was the second goal of the season for Kristo. Assisting were David Graydon and Jon Roeckle. SLU keeper Nick Shackelford made five saves for his third clean sheet of the season as Saint Louis improved to 4-1 with the win.

Kristo scored the only goal the Billikens would need. Graydon started the scoring play when he sent a ball in the left corner to Roeckle. With one touch, Roeckle flighted a perfect ball to Kristo, who ran in at the far post and headed it home for the eventual game-winner at 17:30 of the opening half.

Shackelford was sharp between the posts to preserve the shutout, and the Billiken victory. He made three saves in the first half and two in the second, several of them at point-blank range.
