Newton, MA - Senior forward Brooke Knowlton  scored her first career hat trick as No. 4 Boston College defeated Yale, 7-0, in a non-conference match on Wednesday night at the Newton Soccer Field. The Eagles are now 6-0-1, while Yale is 1-4-0.

Knowlton opened the scoring in the sixth minute off a cross from senior Amy Caldwell. Knowlton, who missed three games with an injury, scored her second goal in the 59th minute and the third goal of the night in the 62nd minute. It was Knowlton's second game-winning goal of the season, as she scored the game-winner against Fairfield last Friday night.

The Eagles went up 2-0 when Victoria DiMartino received a pass from Hannah Cerrone at midfield. The sophomore forward proceeded to take up space and ripped a shot from 25 yards out which went over the Yale goalkeeper Ayana Sumiyasu's (five saves) hands. BC held a 2-0 lead at the half and a 13-2 edge in shots.

Kristen Mewis opened the scoring in the second half when DiMartino sent her into the box alone in the 53rd minute of the match. Freshman Patrice Vettori scored her first collegiate goal three minutes later as her shot went to the left of the Yale goalkeeper Sumiyasu.

After Knowlton's two goals, freshman Kate McCarthy finished the scoring on an unassisted goal in the 86th minute of the match.

Boston College had 27 shots, while Yale managed six shots on the night.
