Wisconsin-Parkside 1, Grand Valley State 0

For the first time in program history, the UW-Parkside women's soccer team has secured a win in the NCAA tournament. The Rangers accomplished the feat by eliminating Grand Valley State, 1-0, at Wood Road Field on a cool, sunny afternoon.

The Rangers (18-1) advance to play Ashland (18-1-1), a 1-0 winner over Northern Kentucky. The regional title game will be played at Wood Road Field Sunday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m.

Freshman Laure Eide scored the only goal of the game at 26:43. It was set up off of a corner kick with assists to Lindsey Griffitts and Charissa Weiher.

Abbigale Wild notched the shutout in between the pipes. The Ranger netminder turned away four Laker shots on goal, all in the second half.

The Rangers, ranked No. 5 in the nation, earned a measure of revenge with the victory. In last year's NCAA first round game, the Rangers fell to the Lakers at Grand Valley State, 4-0. That game marked the first time the UW-Parkside women's soccer team has appeared in the NCAA tournament.

Earlier this season, UW-Parkside took a 4-1 victory over Grand Valley State at Wood Road Field.

The winner of the UW-Parkside versus Ashland game on Sunday will host a third round game to be played the following weekend.

The Final Four will be contested at Wichita Falls, Texas, December 2-4.
