WHEATON, Ill. -- Freshman Sarah Nuber picked the right time to score her first collegiate goal as she lifted the Lady Captains to a 1-0 win over Lynchburg in the Sweet 16 Friday night and advance to the Elite 8.

CNU and Lynchburg played to a 1-1 double overtime back on Oct. 3 in Lynchburg in the regular season.

Nuber took a through ball from Paniz Asgari and dribbled about 30 yards and kicked it past Lynchburg's goalkeeper Erin Johnson in the 67th minute for the game's only goal.

The Lady Hornets out shot CNU 16-12. Lindsay Naill had six saves in goa to improve to 8-2-3 on the year.

CNU's women's soccer team becomes just the fourth team in school history to reach the Elite 8 in NCAA Tournament play. CNU's baseball team finished second and third in the country, the 2000 men's soccer squad advanced to the Elite 8 and lost to Wisconsin Oshkosh at home and the 2000-2001 men's basketball team advanced to the Elite 8 and lost in overtime to William Paterson in the Freeman Center.

With the win, the Lady Captains earned their 16th win of the year, the most ever in a single season in the program's history. CNU finished 2003 with 15 wins.

The Lady Captains (16-3-3) advanced to play third ranked Wheaton (IL). The Thunder were 3-0 winners over the University of Chicago in the first game of the day. Game time for the regional final is set for 6 pm eastern time. The game will either be broadcasted live on Captains Sports Live or on WETN, Wheaton College's student radio station.
