Messiah 3, Mary Washington 0

The Messiah College Falcons (20-0-2) advanced to their second Final Four in 3 years with a 3-0 win over the Mary Washington Eagles (13-5-3) Saturday night.

With steady rain falling for much of the first half Annie Futato scored the Falcon's first goal of the night at the 28:12 mark. Futato played a give and go to Stef Rowe and eventually and struck the ball into the back of the net providing all the offense Messiah would need.

Play continued back and forth for ten minutes when the Falcons added another, this time off the foot of Rowe. Corrie Jones played a through pass to Rowe who hit a low line drive which skipped of the wet turf and off the Eagle keeper into the net.

Hannah Levesque added the final blow with 9 minutes remaining in the contest. Levesque took a corner ball played by Avie Fitzgerald, and headed it over the outstretched arms of the Eagle keeper making it 3-0.

The Falcons out shot the Eagles 14-5 and also had more corner kicks 6-2. Mary Elizabeth Fulco made 7 saves for Mary Washington, while Cassie Grose had 2 for Messiah.

With the win the Falcons get revenge for a season ending loss last year in the NCAA second round. Messiah advances to the Final Four which will be held next Friday and Saturday in Greensboro, NC. Their opponent and game time have yet to be determined.

Mary Washington ends their season with a 13-5-3 record after making their 11th trip to the NCAA tournament and third straight.
