Greensboro, N.C. -- Wheaton College of Illinois (34-1) defeated Wheaton, Mass. (23-1-2), 3-1, in a NCAA Division III women's soccer semifinal match at Macpherson Stadium on Friday.

After a scoreless first half, the Thunder scored in the 56th minute. Ashley Wiersma tallied unassisted on a hard shot from 20 yards out. Two minutes later, Jen Binger scored what would be the game-winner for Wheaton, IL. Mary Doleshal assisted on the scoring play.

Lauren Konopka scored in the 69th minute for the Lyon's lone goal. Jordan Pouliot was credited with the assist.

In the 89th minute Sara Johnson scored the game's last goal on an assist from Jessica Elsen.

Stacy Kronenburg stopped seven shots in the nets for the Lyons. Wheaton, IL outshot Wheaton, Mass., 20-12.

The Thunder advances to face the winner of Messiah College and the University of Puget Sound in Saturday's championship game. Game time is 1 p.m.
