Wichita Falls, Texas - The Metropolitan State College of Denver women's soccer team (24-1) defeated Nebraska-Omaha (18-4-2) 2-0 behind goals from senior midfielder Marina MacDonald (Inverness, Scotland) and sophomore midfielder Brooke Kiefer (Broomfield, Colo.). Although the Mavericks out-shot Metro State 12-8 overall the Runners carried a 5-4 edge in shots-on-goal. MSCD held a 5-4 advantage in corners as well. The shutout marks the fifth consecutive postseason game in which a goal was not allowed and the seventh straight overall for the Roadrunners.

Out of the gates, Metro controlled the tempo as the squad held a 4-1 edge in corners and shots on goal. Nebraska-Omaha played a physical game, tallying eight fouls to the Runners' four. The game was scoreless until the 30th minute (29:04) when freshman defender Jamie Gwinner (Lakewood, Colo.) threaded a pass through to MacDonald who one-timed the ball past the helpless Maverick goalie. Less then six minutes later (35:15) senior midfielder Ymara Guante (Tucson, Ariz.) found Kiefer who was streaking in from the left-side. Kiefer blasted the shot in for her third tally of the season. Nebraska-Omaha fought back in the second half and out-shot Metro 7-2 but junior keeper Mandy Allen (Broomfield, Colo.) was more then up to the challenge, saving all of UNO's three shots-on-goal. One Maverick opportunity came five minutes into the second half when a Neb.-Omaha forward launched a shot over the outstretched fingertips of Allen, only to bounce off the underside of the crossbar and out of cleared by the Runner `D'.
