ALLENDALE, Mich. - The No. 7 Metro State women's soccer team (18-1-2) defeated crosstown rival Regis, 2-1 in overtime, to claim the Central Region title, Friday afternoon in Allendale, Mich.

The 'Runners advanced to play Wisconsin-Parkside who upset No. 1 and previously undefeated Grand Valley State, 1-0, in the Midwest Region final. The teams will face off for a berth in the national semifinals, Sunday at 1 p.m. EST. Follow the game live, click here!

The 'Runners defeated the Rangers for the third time this season. The first half was a defensive battle as both teams managed just two shots on goal. MSCD struck first in the 63rd minute when Becca Mays took a pass from Ashley Munchiando in the box and scored through the right side. Regis leveled the score with just under two minutes remaining in the game, to send the contest to overtime.

Jaimie Stephenson scored the game-winning goal in the 95th miniute with a shot from 18 feet away that sailed over Regis' goalie and into the upper right side of the net.
