Illinois Wesleyan Tops W&J In NCAA First Round

GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Illinois Wesleyan women's soccer team claimed a 3-0 win over Washington & Jefferson to advance to the second round of the NCAA Division III championships on Saturday, Nov. 13, in Granville, Ohio.
The Titans (17-1-3), who scored three first half goals, will face the winner of the Denison/Penn State-Altoona match at 12 p.m. Central on Sunday, Nov. 14, in Granville, Ohio.
IWU opened their scoring with 10:34 gone in the match when freshman Tillie Bill scored an unassisted goal, her 14th of the year, as she gathered a loose ball and bounced it in the goal off the keeper's hands.
The second IWU goal came at the 22:45 mark when freshman Kristina Dolak put in a header off a perfect cross from right corner of field from junior Molly O'Brien.
The final Titan score was the first goal of the year from Amanda Knezovich, unassisted at 34:58, as she put the kick in from 12 yards out into the upper left of the net.
The Titan defense allowed no shots on goal as senior Alli Novak (76:44) and freshman Zoie Samaan (13:16) combined on the shutout. The Presidents had one first half shot and the Titans had 15 in the game.
