The Rowan University womens soccer team had a 2-0 win over Stevenson University in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament on Saturday.

In the other first round game, Messiah College defeated Manhattanville College, 4-0. Messiah (20-0) and Rowan (16-2-2) will play in the second round on Sunday, November 14 at 1 p.m. Stevenson finishes the season with a 12-7-1 record.

Forward Jess Babice (sr. Groveville, NJ/Steinert) and back Miranda Donnian (fr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) each scored a goal for the Profs. Midfielder Christie Fink (jr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) picked up one assist.

Rowan took 11 shots and Stevenson had 10. Profs goalkeeper Deana Wood (fr. Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Reg.) made four saves for her 10th shutout of the season. Goalkeepers Brittany Ross (jr. Millersville, MD/Severna Park) and Lauren Weitzman (so. Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) each played a half and stopped one shot apiece.

Donnian put Rowan ahead 1-0 at 24:48 in the first period. Donnian received a pass from Fink at the top of the box and fired it into the lower right corner of the net. At 28:26, Babice took a rebounded shot and kicked it into the upper left corner of the goal.
