Roundup: No. 3 Florida Tech wins 3-1 despite lighting delay
ALBANY, N.Y. -- No.1 Saint Rose lived up to its billing by winning its 39th consecutive Northeast-10 Conference match with a 5-0 triumph against visiting Pace at Sullivan Field.
Freshman forward Brittany Barry continued her offensive onslaught with a pair of strikes less than 10 minutes apart in the second period to lead Saint Rose. Barry’s tallies sandwiched a goal by senior midfielder Brittany Godin that allowed the Golden Knights to break open what was a 2-0 game at the break.
Sophomore midfielder Sydney Bond netted her second game-winner of the year 17:37 into the contest off a corner kick from senior midfielder Christina Cuffari to get the scoring started. Senior forward Gianna D’Errico added a goal and two assists as well.
No. 3 Florida Tech 3, St. Thomas 1
MELBOURNE, Fla. -- Chelsea Pushman’s first goal of the season in the 76th minute secured a 3-1 victory for No. 3 Florida Tech against St. Thomas at a soggy Rick Stottler Field.
The Panthers, who moved up two spots in Tuesday’s NCSAA Poll, improved to 3-0 on the season. The loss dropped the Bobcats to 1-2.
After a one-hour lighting delay, Tech received goals from Carly Hunt and Casey Lademann in a span of three minutes and nine seconds. Lademann’s tally in the 15th minute was set up by a pair of passes from Christina Edwards and Kelly Whittaker.
