SEWANEE, Tenn. -- No. 4 Emory kept its undefeated record intact, winning 4-0 at Sewanee on Sunday afternoon.
With the victory, the Eagles improved to 7-0-1, while Sewanee dropped to 2-6-1 on the year with the loss. Emory is now 5-0-1 in games away from the Woodruff P.E Center this season.
The Eagles got on the board in the 21st minute, as center back Lauren Gorodetsky scored her third game-winning goal in the last four Emory contests, this time converting the score off a set piece. The Eagles extended their lead to 2-0 heading into halftime, after junior Merrill Bachouros scored off a free kick in the 35th minute.
The Eagles quickly got back to work in the second half, as Clare Mullins scored on a penalty kick just 33 seconds into the frame, her second of the season. Emory picked up an insurance goal in the 65th minute, with Bachouros scoring her second goal of the game, this time off a Kelly Costopoulos assist.
No. 5 Williams 1, Bowdoin 1
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- No. 5 Williams and Bowdoin played to a 1-1 draw on Sunday. After Bowdoin (2-2-2, 0-2-2 NESCAC) dominated the first half, and went up with a goal from Molly Popolizio, Williams (4-1-1, 2-0-1 NESCAC) responded with a goal from Brett Eisenhart early in the second half. Although the Ephs controlled the second half, they were unable to find the back of the net for a second time, and after 110 minutes, the teams walked off the field in a draw.
Bowdoin's first goal came off a corner kick in the 17th minute when Caroline Logan struck the ball from the right corner into the middle of the box, where Ellery Gould headed the ball to Molly Popolizio who headed the ball into the back of the net. Both Gould and Logan were credited with assists.
The Ephs found their goal five minutes into the second half when Hayley Cook passed the ball to Louisa Costa, who chipped it through to Eisenhart in the box. Eisenhart took a low shot just past the goalie and was able to tie the game up for the Ephs.
