Roundup: Stanley tallied only two goals off free kicks
ERIE, Pa. – Senior Breeanna Robinson and junior Carley Work each tallied goals on Saturday afternoon, as the No. 3 Vulcans claimed a 2-0 victory at Mercyhurst in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action.
With the win, California University of Pennsylvania remains unbeaten this season at 6-0-1 overall and 4-0-1 in league play. Meanwhile, Mercyhurst drops to 5-4-1 this year with a 2-4-1 in conference action.
The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute when Work posted her team-leading 10th goal of the season off an assist from freshman Erin Hogan. Following halftime, Cal U added to its lead at the 60:02-mark when Robinson recorded an unassisted goal, her seventh of the year.
Senior goalkeeper Paula Jackson finished with her second-consecutive shutout after making three saves on Saturday. The Lakers' Rachel Griepsma also made three saves in the losing effort.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- Senior Katie Stanley continued her free kick magic on Saturday afternoon as she tallied the only two goals of the match off free kicks in the first half to lift the number one ranked University of Bridgeport women's soccer team to a 2-0 East Coast Conference home win against NYIT on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Purple Knights are now 9-0-0 overall on the season and 3-0-0 in conference play. NYIT is now 5-4-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the ECC.
Stanley's goals, her fourth and fifth of the season, came in the ninth and 22nd minutes. Katie has now scored the Purple Knights last three goals, all off free kicks.
UB goalie Julia Hansson made eight saves to notch her fifth consecutive shutout and seventh clean sheet of the season. Hansson has not allowed a goal in 486:55 consecutive minutes played.
