Who is your mentor and what is the most impactful thing they have taught you? 

My mentor is my dad, Brent. I am so blessed to have him and the rest of my family as support, but he definitely stands out. Throughout my life, he has done an incredible job of balancing between my father and my coach. Everything I go through, he has already been through and I can always count on him for advice. He has played at the highest level. Through his own experiences, he can tell me what works and what doesn’t, on and off the field. The most impactful thing my dad has taught me is I can only control my own actions.

My dad, and he has always told me “to play hard and have fun.” The minute I lose sight of those values I will lose my sight of being successful and enjoying life.

Being inducted into the Colorado Sportswoman Hall of Fame in 2010 for soccer.

My all time favorite quote that I live by is, “Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.”  This quote has helped me get through so many obstacles in life, not just in soccer. I know I wouldn’t be the person I am today without having been through all my life experiences.

What’s something that few people know about you?

I am dyslexic. I see it as a gift that rather than hindering my learning ability, has actually given me great motivation to pursue my academic goals with confidence that I can learn anything I set my mind to.

What is your favorite part about college?

Mass in the dorms. There is nothing like it. Everyone is so happy, the songs are beautiful and being with so many people at a time of reflection and prayer is truly amazing and touching.
