Ithaca advances with OT win
Game-winner comes on own goal in 99th minute
ADA, Ohio -- Ithaca (12-3-3) claimed a 2-1 overtime victory against Illinois Wesleyan (14-4-2) on Saturday in its NCAA regional semifinal hosted by Ohio Northern.
In its 22nd NCAA playoff appearance, and ninth consecutive, the Bombers earned an invitation to the regional final against host Ohio Northern at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
After working together to tie the game 1-1 in the second, the tandem of junior Rachael Palladino and sophomore Ellyn Grant-Keane pieced together the game-winner in the 99th minute.
Grant-Keane found an open Palladino in front of the net, where Palladino laced a shot that bounced off the right post. A hard-charging Titan defender deflected the ball into the net to give Ithaca the final margin.
Sophomore Tillie Bill had the Titans' only goal, coming with 55 seconds left in the first half.
