KENNESAW, Ga. – Stanford advanced to its third consecutive Division I women’s soccer national championship game with a 3-0 victory against Florida State on Friday.

Stanford freshman Chioma Ubogagu finished a dramatic, 80-yard breakaway off a FSU corner kick that featured a nifty give-and-go with Teresa Noyola. Ubogagu juked FSU’s Kristin Grubka inside the box and beat goalie Kelsey Wys.

The Cardinal scored again less than three minutes later when Ubogagu delivered a perfect cross from the left side that Kristy Zurmuhlen slid into and knocked in off the near post.

Florida State tried to rally in the second half but Stanford countered again with a long pass in from Madeleine Thompson to Alina Garciamendez, who got up high to beat a defender to the ball and head it in just under the crossbar.

It was the most goals Stanford has scored in a College Cup game.
