Saginaw Valley St. silences top-ranked Grand Valley St. in scoreless draw

ALLENDALE, Mich. — Saginaw Valley State fought to a scoreless tie versus top-ranked Grand Valley State in double overtime in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Friday.

The Cardinal (2-1-3, 1-0-2 GLIAC) defense played an outstanding game against the top team in the nation, holding the Lakers (6-0-2, 2-0-1 GLIAC) to just eight shots on goal for the game.

Grand Valley State took a total of 19 shots but could not find the back of the net.

Sophomore keeper Laura Ivezaj stopped all eight shots as she helped lead the Cardinals to the surprising draw.

Meanwhile, Saginaw Valley State took only five shots and neither team could capitalize throughout the game leading to a 0-0 finish in double overtime.
