ALBANY, N.Y. – Kaleigh Roberge scored with just under three minutes remaining to lift third-seeded Southern New Hampshire to a 1-0 victory against second-seeded Saint Rose in the semifinals of the Northeast-10 Championship on Friday at Sullivan Field.
The Penmen, who advance to their first NE-10 championship game with the win, improve to 12-5-3 on the season. The Golden Knights, who have captured each of the previous five NE-10 tournament titles, now stand 16-2-2 overall.
Southern New Hampshire will host the Northeast-10 championship game on Sunday against eighth-seeded Adelphi.
Roberge’s goal, her seventh of the season, came with 2:56 remaining in regulation. She took a cross from the right from Ashley Jaskula and one-timed it inside the right post to lift the Penmen to the final.
Saint Rose carried play for much of the contest, outshooting Southern New Hampshire 20-5 and 7-2 in shots on goal. Penmen keeper Samantha Whittier recorded her second shutout of the postseason by making seven saves while Golden Knight goalie Jessica Gerski recorded one stop.
