Top-10 teams set to square off at Grand Valley State
No. 1 West Florida
Top-ranked West Florida (1-0-1) will look to rebound from its 1-1 draw with No. 5 Armstrong Atlantic last Sunday as it travels to take on No. 16 Rollins on Friday. It will be the eighth consecutive game against a ranked opponent for the Argonauts.
Rollins went 2-0 in its opening weekend, beating USC Aiken and Anderson.
West Florida will stay on the road to play at Florida Southern on Sunday. The Mocs lost two 1-0 games during last weekend to Valdosta State and North Georgia.
No. 2 Grand Valley State
After battling two ranked teams last weekend, the schedule doesn’t get any easier for Grand Valley State as it will welcome No. 4 Minnesota State-Mankato for its lone weekend game on Sunday. The Lakers are 1-0-1 after last weekend’s Clash on the Coast, in which it drew with tournament host Armstrong Atlantic and defeated Columbus State.
Minnesota State-Mankato will play one game before the top-four matchup, against Concordia on Thursday. The Mavericks are 2-0 after two shutout victories in opening weekend.
No. 5 Armstrong Atlantic
The Pirates host their second invitational in as many weeks this weekend, the Savannah Midtown Pirate Shootout. Armstrong played to scoreless draws last weekend against both No. 1 West Florida and No. 2 Grand Valley State at the Clash on the Coast tournament.
This weekend, the Pirates will host Belmont Abbey (2-0) on Friday and still-yet-to-play Lynn on Sunday.
No. 6 Colorado Mines
The Orediggers (2-0) will play their home opener on Friday when they hosts St. Mary’s (Texas), which defeated Division I Texas Southern 4-1 on Sunday. Colorado Mines is coming off wins against Dallas Baptist and West Texas A&M.
Colorado Mines will then hit the road again to take on Eastern New Mexico (1-0-2) on Sunday.
No. 7 Western Washington
After opening with a road win against a nationally-ranked rival, Western Washington returns home this weekend for a pair of non-conference contests against Notre Dame de Namur on Thursday and Dixie State on Saturday.
The Vikings, who moved up five spots to No. 7 in the NSCAA top 25, began their campaign last Saturday with a 1-0 upset victory at No. 3 UC San Diego.
No. 8 Slippery Rock
Slippery Rock started the season 1-0-1, including a draw with Clarion on Tuesday.
It will play one game this weekend as it hosts Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday.
Indiana is 2-1, with their only loss coming to California (Pa.), which Slippery Rock beat 2-1 in its first game.
No. 9 Tampa
The Spartans will look to continue their strong play as they participate in the Columbus State tournament this weekend. Last week, Tampa won three games, outscoring their opponents 23-0 in the process.
This weekend, Tampa will take on No. 14 Lenoir-Rhyne (2-0-0) on Friday and Tusculum (1-1-1) on Sunday.
No. 10 Cal State Stanislaus
Cal State Stanislaus will open California Collegiate Athletic Association play next Friday when it hosts Cal State San Bernardino. The Warriors are 2-0-0 after opening weekend, while San Bernardino is 2-1-0.
Stanislaus will then host Chico State on Sunday, which stands at 2-0-0.
