NORMAN, Okla. – Down to its final two outs, 14th-ranked Oklahoma rallied to score three runs and defeat 17th-ranked Baylor, 3-2, Saturday. Destinee Martinez’s only hit of the day came in the seventh, scoring Chana’e Jones and Javen Henson to tie the game. With runners at the corners, Jessica Shults’ sacrifice line drive to center field scored Brianna Turang to give OU the 3-2 victory.

Keilani Ricketts moved to 19-6 on the year. Ricketts threw a complete game, allowing the two earned runs on five hits and one walk. She struck out eight while holding the Lady Bears to two hits in the first four frames and didn’t allow either runner to reach second.

The Sooners had an opportunity to jump on Baylor early. Oklahoma loaded the bases in the bottom of the first, but they could not capitalize.

Baylor got the game’s first run in the top of the fifth. Holly Holl led off with a double to left center and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt before scoring on Kelsi Kettler’s bloop single to left center. The Lady Bears added another run in the top of the sixth on a solo home run by Megan Turk.

OU would have another chance to score after loading the bases again in the sixth, but again, the Sooners left the bases loaded and were down to their final three outs heading into the seventh.

Katie Norris led off the inning with a single down the right field line and runner Henson moved to second on a walk by Jones. Henson then stole third and an infield single from Turang loaded the bases for Martinez. After reaching base on two errors previously in the game, Martinez’s first hit of the afternoon tied the game before Turang came in to score on Shults’ line drive sacrifice fly.

Turang, Haley Nix and Norris each ended the game 2-for-3. Martinez registered OU’s other hit. Shults, Dani Dobbs and Jones drew the walks off Baylor starter Whitney Canion.

Canion (16-5) pitched 6.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits. She struck out four. Turk led the Lady Bears at the plate, going 2-for-3 while Dani Leal and Holl had the other BU hits.
