KINGSVILLE, Texas – No. 23 West Texas A&M used a two run fourth inning and a dominating pitching performance to complete the sweep of Texas A&M-Kingsville on the road at Hubert Field, 3-0 on Saturday afternoon. The win improves WT to 30-11 (7-5 LSC) while the Javelinas fall to 22-22 (3-9 LSC).

“Great win today to sweep the series and get us back in the LSC race” said WT head coach Kevin Blaskowski “Marci was dominant in the circle and our offense continued to get our swagger back. Big weekend coming up against Angelo State, we need to defend our yard and keep our momentum going.”

The Lady Buffs started off the scoring in the top of the fourth inning on a Meghan Slattery RBI double to center to plate Kristina Myles who led off the inning with a double. Alyssa Lemos drove in Slattery with a double of her own to left center to take the 2-0 lead.

WT added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning on a Kimberly LeComte RBI double to score Kasey Henderson to take game three and the series sweep, 3-0.

The Lady Buffs got a dominant combined pitching performance in game three, starter Marci Womack went 5.1 innings, giving up no runs on three hits with four strikeouts to pick up the win (15-5) before giving way to Shelbey Cockrell who struck out four of the six batters she faced to pick up the save in 1.2 innings of work.
