GRANTHAM, Pa. – Sara Seneca recorded five hits to lead No. 14 Messiah to a doubleheader sweep of McDaniel in non-conference softball action on Thursday.

The Falcons (29-5) took the opener 5-1 before capping the sweep with a 7-1 victory in the nightcap.

Jordan Beans had two hits for the Green Terror (14-24), who were limited to eight combined hits in the twinbill and fanned 17 times by Messiah pitching, which entered the twinbill ranked 10th in Division III in earned-run average at 1.51.

In the fourth inning of game one, Stephanie Schell led off with a triple before scoring on a Krista Ammon single one batter later.

Ammon stole second and Lauren Seneca walked to put runners at first and second with one out before Amanda Fife doubled to plate both runners for a 3-0 lead.

Back-to-back singles from Jaclyn Merkel and Jessica Rhoades coupled with stolen bases put runners at the corners to start the fifth inning.

A throwing error coupled with Sara Dietrich single pushed the lead to 5-0.

In the top of the seventh, Beans reached on a one-out single before moving to third on a pair of passed balls and scoring on a Sara Erlichman RBI groundout.

An Ashley Lehman one-out walk in the bottom of the third in game two sparked a five-run frame.

With runners at the corners and two outs, Dietrich tripled before Schell walked to put runners back at the corners.

An Ammon triple and Lauren Seneca RBI double made it a 5-0 game.

Erinne Warrenfeltz singled with one out in the fourth before scoring on a Beans two-out double.

A Dietrich walk and pair of errors pushed the lead to 6-1 in the fifth.

Dietrich plated Lehman with a RBI single to set the final margin in the sixth.

Rhoads struck out nine batters in six innings of work to improve to 10-1 before Jocelyn Hickey fanned seven to also record her 10th win.
